The free software Free Pascal Compiler and Lazarus IDE are similar to Embarcadero Delphi. They use a very similar Object Pascal programming language, LCL is similar to VCL. Some third party Delphi libraries support Lazarus and FPC. Lazarus is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) with a look similar to Delphi 7 with "many windows" style MDI. Has a Delphi 7 style control palette in a two row main toolbar. Has a GUI editor, has not visible controls. Has Delphi source code editor, code navigation, comes with complete source code. Has a debugger with step into, call stack window, breakpoints window. Is multiplatform: Windows, Linux, BSD, macOS. On Linux it can use Qt5 or GTK 2 as display technology for the GUI.

The demo shows how yo build the "classic" EditBox, ListBox and Button Delphi app, the same demo that was done during the Delphi 1 product launch at Software Development on February 14, 1995 in San Francisco. He was impressed with MineCraft and decided to do something similar, but with more realistic and beautiful graphics. Nick made the task as difficult as possible and decided to create the code from scratch without using third-party graphics game engines and libraries. The game was named StoneQuest. It has the following capabilities: - The size of the whole game is less than 15 megabytes. - The game uses DirectX9 and Vertex and Pixelshader 3.0 (But OpenGL support is planned or has already been added) - The whole world is created by chance procedurally. Similar to the game MineCraft, but at times more realistic. It is a game engine focused on creating 3D games. If desired, you can create 2D games on it. The development of this engine began in 1997.
