Maybe you’ve followed all the color harmony and color theory tutorials to a tee and generated a complementary color palette, but you notice that the colors don’t seem to match very well, perhaps they look harsh or a bit muddy and unprofessional and you don’t really know why. The part that's often missing is understanding tone, tint, shade and temperature What I discovered is that on digital screens, there is a formula and safe range of Saturation and Brightness that will result in a perfect palette for each category every time. In this super practical guide, I'll show you how to setup your design apps (Sketch or Figma) and create color palettes that match every single time. Harmony (color) In color theory, color harmony refers to the property that certain aesthetically pleasing color combinations have. These combinations create pleasing contrasts and consonances that are said to be harmonious. Warm Colors harmony In a Warm Colors Dominance harmony we use colors that have a warm quality. These include reds, oranges and yellows. This color harmony is useful to express feelings of warmth and comfort. It is also useful to represent scenes in which you want the elements to move towards the viewer and appear to be close by Cool colors harmony This color harmony is useful to express feelings of cold or remoteness. It is also useful to represent scenes where you want the elements to recede away from the viewer and appear distant. Complementary Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel are considered to be complementary colors (example: red and green). The high contrast of complementary colors creates a vibrant look especially when used at full saturation. This color scheme must be managed well so it is not jarring. Complementary colors are tricky to use in large doses, but work well when you want something to stand out. Analogous Analogous color schemes use colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. They usually match well and create serene and comfortable designs. Analogous color schemes are often found in nature and are harmonious and pleasing to the eye. Make sure you have enough contrast when choosing an analogous color scheme. Triad A triadic color scheme uses colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel. Triadic color harmonies tend to be quite vibrant, even if you use pale or unsaturated versions of your hues. To use a triadic harmony successfully, the colors should be carefully balanced - let one color dominate and use the two others for accent. Split-Complementary The split-complementary color scheme is a variation of the complementary color scheme. In addition to the base color, it uses the two colors adjacent to its complement. This color scheme has the same strong visual contrast as the complementary color scheme, but has less tension. The split-complimentary color scheme is often a good choice for beginners, because it is difficult to mess up. Rectangle (tetradic) The rectangle or tetradic color scheme uses four colors arranged into two complementary pairs. This rich color scheme offers plenty of possibilities for variation. The tetradic color scheme works best if you let one color be dominant. You should also pay attention to the balance between warm and cool colors in your design. Square The square color scheme is similar to the rectangle, but with all four colors spaced evenly around the color circle. #colourtheory #colourharmony #harmonyofcolours -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Drawing and coloring a colorful strawberry step by step || Easy drawing for kids" 🤍 -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- visit my other channel also Flowers by Shagufta 🤍

Colour harmonies, that is using colours or hues in a pleasing combination. I’ll show how to use a feature of Adobe Photoshop to produce exact colour harmony’s, complementary colours, in simple tabletop still life photography. There is a demonstration of how to use studio flash to make a graduated background for the still life subject. How to light the subject to saturate the colour and how to apply the complimentary colour in Photoshop. This idea is not new, back in 1666 a chap by the name of Isaac Newton mapped the colours of the spectrum onto a circle and the colour wheel was born. You can use a colour wheel to find colour harmonies by using the rules of colour combinations. The combinations determine the relative positions of different colours on the wheel that create a pleasing effect to the viewer.
